Biography
Erica Bass
began to study the flute at the age of twelve under the instruction of Kathy
Farmer. While in high school, Erica attended the Governor's Honors Program
in music, was a member of the Georgia All-State Band for four years and played
in both the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Atlanta Youth Wind
Symphony.
Erica has attended several summer programs including three sessions at Brevard Music Center, the North Carolina School of the Arts with Philip Dunigan and Domaine Forget with Susan Hoeppner. She has participated in masterclasses given by Julius Baker, Peter Lloyd, Emmanuel Pahud, Mathieu Dufour, Alexa Still, Ransom Wilson, Carl Hall and Mary Karen Clardy. She has also studied privately with Christina Smith.
In 2002, Erica was the winner of the Atlanta Flute Club Young Artist Competition and was awarded the Gerschefski Scholarship by the Epsilon Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. She was also a winner of the University of Georgia Wind Symphony Concerto Competition. While attending the University of Georgia, Erica was a member of the UGA Wind Symphony , the UGA Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Wind Quintet. While pursuing her degree at UGA, Erica was a student of Angela Jones-Reus. Erica completed her studies and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in flute performance in May of 2003.
Erica has just returned from a year's study at the Royal Northern College of music in Manchester, England where she earned a Postgraduate Performance Diploma. While at the RNCM, Erica was a student of Richard Davis, Linda Verrier and Jo Boddington.
